“The sun is shining through the trees, Me, oh my, feel the breeze! Dancing, playing, running through, these are things I like to do!"
The happy sing song voice reverberated softly off of the trees about a few strides from the rapids. Anyone close by could hear the lovely lyrics clearly coming from the throat and mouth of that of a canine. There was a defined happiness and cheeriness about the words, and they had an almost child-like tone and inflection to them. The summer months truly delighted the lass, for she and her siblings were late coming from the womb of their mother by two weeks. They weren’t born in spring, oh no, and all three cubs were born during this season instead. They were too comfortable, safely tucked away in their mother’s stomach. And they would’ve stayed there are couple weeks later, had their mum not grown bigger than a boulder. She knew it was time for them to be due, and urged them to come into the world, with much success thankfully. Any bigger and Ayala’s mother would have been full to bursting. Three cubs kicking you in the side, liver, and everywhere else was not a pleasant experience. Finally they were born when summer was just forming. And their mother couldn’t have been happier. Not only was she welcoming her cherished children, but she could relax now.
Singing a song, Join along! Enjoy the season, Rejoice with a reason!
The jolly words were coming solely from the one called Ayala. The four year old female didn’t let much get her down at all, and a grateful smile was plastered on her black lips, revealing the pearly whites within her mouth in a non-threatening manner. Her tickle-me-pink colored tongue with three black spots on it hung only partially out of her mouth in a light pant. The female’s tail waived happily behind her bum, in rhythm to the tune Ayala was singing. A soft breeze ruffled the cinnamon, salt, and pepper fur on the back of the beastie, keeping her cool from the blazing sun that ailed most others. Today was a good day, as good as any other. Her back left leg wasn’t acting up and she was able to put her weight on it. No painful spasms shot up her leg and all was well. This she-wolf was probably one of the most optimistic ones to walk the earth ever. Even despite her sufferings that everyone experienced, Ayala made the best of her life. Being a loner now, and before that an Omega didn’t bother her in the slightest. Her personality was peaceful and calm, not like the tumultuous and cunning ones she’d seen.
As Ayala approached the rapids, she began looking into the water. She also began to make little fun faces at her reflection in the water. A small giggle came from within the female, and she happily made some more faces. When people say enjoy life to the fullest, Ayala demonstrated that unlike any other. She wasn’t some kind of tree hugger, let me assure you, but wanted to see what the world had to offer her. Wolves were just entering their prime around three years old, so Ayala was free to do as she pleased, being only one year older. Finally, the she-wolf waded into the water, and she gave a sigh of more happiness. Ayala’s ears folded back on her head and her shining silver eyes closed. The lass was still alert, scenting the air carefully all the while, however, this freedom was nice. Not being told what she could and could not do for a little while made Ayala happy. She was a free spirit, dancing through the lands and singing with the Blue Jays overhead. The rushing water coming from an unknown source appealed to the girl, and she ploughed through the water to go beneath the falls. She pushed further and further into the water until she reached the main source. A cold sensation filled Ayala’s senses as she went under it, and a louder laugh almost overpowered the sounds of the rapids. And with that laugh, an involuntary snort of followed not long after. What fun.

Talia silently watched her surroundings from the safety of a large tree. Everything during the past few hours was continuous. The sunlight was still glittering through the cracks in the treetops above. The blue jays were still singing and flitting along the branches. The water from the river was steadily rolling along, pulled by some unknown force Talia wasn't familiar with. Maybe there was a god that controlled the rivers, even though from the stories her mother told her, that was formerly Valkyrie's job.
Suddenly a voice broke the continuity. It was a female's voice, singing some sort of tune Talia couldn't make out. The wolf was nearby, she knew, and she sounded too happy. Talia couldn't understand how others could be so happy.
The female watched the other as she gleefully swam and dove in the rapids. The other female looked so content and happy with her life. Why?! Talia couldn't take it anymore!
"You!" she howled, stepping towards the river bank. "Why are you so happy?" she asked glumly. There was a slight bite in her words. She hated the fact that others could just be so... jolly.

Well, I'm afraid that I, well...
Loki merrily paraded his way through the woods, fluffy plume swishing behind him like a thick boa. His fluffy ears were perked atop his crown and his bi-colored eyes were wide in naïve wonder. Never before had he seen so many Blue Jays in one place; it was intriguing to say the least. His peppy swag came to a slow halt as a small Jay landed a few lengths away, black eyes studying the unusually fluffy wolf curiously. Loki stared right back, silver streamed hues narrowing in appraisal. “You. You are hideous and unworthy of my time.” With those cheerfully tones words spoken the wolf happily pranced up to the bird, plushy tail curling over his back.
The bird was obviously young and inexperienced as it stayed put while most would have already taken flight at such proximity. It only furthered Loki’s cheerful mood. He hummed a soothing melody, voice silky soft. The tiny blue bird watched him keenly before repeating back his melody, its voice raising the notes to a flute-like pitch that greatly pleased Loki. A flash of pretty ivory teeth and then the small ebon brute danced away, a new tune softly spilling from his parted maw and the Blue Jay long since forgotten. Such was the pixie like wolfs attention span.
The lithe wolf was just plowing his way through a bundle of leafy somethings when he heard the voices. What in the world? His fluffy pelt floofed up, turning the petite male into a walking ball of soft puffiness. He waltzed out of the bushes in all of his plushy glory, tail raised and bi-colored hues wide in curiosity and a small amount of fright. His eyes landed upon a wolfess beneath a tree who was currently berating the other for her happiness. Well. “Your right, there’s something wrong with being happy! I completely understand where you’re coming from.” Though his words were supportive for the essa his tone was insulted and more than a little confused.
...I may have faked it.

Ayala was in a playful frame of mind, as usual, and she was weaving and bobbing through the rapids like nobody’s business. Her multi-colored fur was spiked in some places and plastered down in others where the water had soaked it. She knew with this type of weather all day every day for the next few months, her coat would dry out soon enough though, and her body temperature would remain cool. The she-wolf was very grateful for coming upon these lands, because it seemed suitable to stay for a while. There was an abundance of water, company of the birds above, and there was bound to be other prey around of course. In the wolf’s opinion, this was the ideal spot. For those that had not yet made their way here, shame on them. They were missing out on one of life’s oases. Ayala had only ventured here, so she didn’t know about what other wonders may amuse her out there beyond this territory, but there was plenty of time for her to explore them in the summer season. Ayala would’ve remained within the showers of the rapids had she not heard another wolf call out to her.
The howl that reached her ears stopped her in her tracks, and she stared doe-eyed at the near-by female. Ayala’s silver eyes always showed plenty of emotion, and a brief streak of apprehension ran up her spine. Ayala was about to initiate her flight response, for her shy demeanor took hold a lot of the time, but she decided if she played her cards right, she could get out of this relatively unscathed. Besides the female looked like she needed a little bit of cheering up, and surely that couldn’t go unfixed. It was natural for a wolf like Ayala to want to help others, for being around her kind made her happy, when she could strike up a good conversation that is. So, Ayala made her way back to the bank of the rapids and stood a little bit away from the rather grumpy female. She gave a mighty shake of her fur, sending droplets of water fleeing from her coat. Ayala made sure none would land on her counterpart, for that wouldn’t go over well, she assumed. That would escalate the situation in fact, which was never good.
Ayala then moved closer to the other she-wolf, planting her bum on the ground. Her left leg flopped out from beneath her while the other three remained flush with her body. It was around this time that the male canine showed up too, and she flattened her ears on her head, willing herself to stay put. When her title was that of an Omega, the female didn’t roll over and lick a higher ranking wolf’s muzzle or anything. But she did take on more subservient mannerisms. Ayala felt like she should address the female first at hand, for her bluntness must come with a reason. “Well, I am so happy because you and I are alive to see another day. We weren’t taken in our sleep or harmed. I am well fed, and my journey here came with only minor difficulty.” At this, the lass peeked at her left leg out of her peripheral vision, never taking her eyes off of her newest canine companions though. “You look to be well and whole, friend, so you must not let mediocre things overtake you. You’re quite stunning really, just a little rough around the edges,” Ayala said. "You’ve been hurt once or twice by others, correct? Well, let this experience be one less that you chalk up on your wall. This wondrous beauty must spark your senses a little bit, for you would not be here if that weren’t the truth. Your natural curiosity and desire to be comfortable led you here, no?” Ayala titled her head to the left and then to the right with a genuine kindness harboring there before she focused on the wannabe suave male.
The cinnamon, ebony, and ivory girl let her mouth twist up in a playful smirk as she looked at him. He wasn’t much taller than she was, even with her sitting down, and yet his personality bloomed like any of the surrounding flowers. She could admire that about him, because instead of using a façade as his savior (though his persona was completely contradictory of his countenance) he just let it all hang out. Well, at least from what she could tell. Ayala hadn’t accurately assessed his character yet. “Really?” Ayala asked curiously. “I’m sorry that you feel that way. There is so much joy to be had.” Her tail brushed the ground happily and Ayala didn’t feel so bad, being in the presence of these two wolves. Things were doing okay so far.

A male entered the scene as Talia was speaking to the other female. He agreed with what she was saying, but in quite a weird tone. Could it be he really felt this way? Was there another wolf out there that she could relate to?
Nonsense, there was no way! As Talia looked the male up and down with those judgmental silver eyes, the other female started speaking. She rambled off about how there was so much joy to be had and that she's glad they're all alive when she suddenly hit too close to home.
"Wha... What?! Talia shouted in a mix of surprise and fright. How did she know so much? It was true that Talia came here for the comfort. It eased her mind a little. It was also true she'd went through many heartaches. No one knew about any of that though. "Shut up! You don't know me! Her shoulders hunched and her neck lowered, then the tears started rolling.
She couldn't help herself. When emotional situations arised, crying was the only way Talia could react to such strong, uncontrollable feelings.

Well, I'm afraid that I, well...
Oh boy. Loki switched gazes from one she wolf to the other, butterfly ears twitching in obvious indecision. Stay or go? Stay or go?! He was smaller than both females, a fact that happily chewed on his pride, and it seemed that he had little to no muscle build to one up either of them with. Well Hell, what was a guy to do in this kind of situation? He hesitantly shuffled back a few places, trying his hardest to seem nonchalant about it. No; he wasn’t fleeing, don’t look over here. La la la; just backing up into this nicer patch of grass over here, you know, a lot softer on his delicate paws. It was only his swollen ego that kept him from turning tail and diving back into the shrubbery around him, his already wounded pride refusing to be completely demolished.
With that thought in mind Loki inhaled a deep breath, puffing out his already fur fluffed chest. His dainty body was held in a snarky lean that hinted at boredom and his mismatched hues were narrowed in appraisal. He refused to show how cowed he was by these larger wolves: and females at that! The angrier of the two was thin with a lovely coat of ivory that had Loki eyeing it with barely hidden mischief. Oh the colors he could paint that fur in the she wolfs sleep! He was a deviant at heart and his mind immediately ran away with thoughts of colorful pranks that involved large quantities of smashed berry guts and hungry raccoons. A shiver of excitement tingled down his spine, a twisted smile curling his lips.
The kind voice of the other femme pulled Loki from his prankster thoughts, his eyes traveling over to her in examination while she spoke to the ivory ess. Tri-colored in the paints of cinnamon, cream, and coal she was quite pretty though the trickster didn’t really notice. He was more focused on pranks that could befall her at the most inconvenient of times. Perhaps a surprise bath in the muddy banks that so temptingly mixed just over those few rocks? Or perhaps an unexpected trip down the rapids? Loki’s mind didn’t process the danger that could come with that last idea; it never did usually.
Once more the little jester’s thoughts were put on hold by the friendly voice of the tri-colored wolfess, this time addressing him. He digested her words and then frowned, expression one of denial and insult. “I said nothing of the sort; I don’t even know what you’re talking about.” He huffed though his mismatched eyes were twinkling with unhidden mirth. Though his words were never true his physical movements were and Loki found himself nodding in agreement to her last statement. Yes, there was much joy to be had. Especially for a joker like Loki.
The white female bit out a sharp retort that had Loki’s ebon pelt floofing up once more, the little wolf resembling something along the lines of a hacked of Persian cat on a larger scale. The ivory femme’s harsh command sent Loki dancing away, angling himself behind the kinder female to use her as a fleshy shield. His stinging pride reared up last minute and Loki found himself muttering to her, “You, uh, have something on your, um, your tail. I’m just back here to get it and help ya out, no other reason.” He quickly stooped down and pretended to examine her tail, his act hardly convincing as his bi-colored hues were plastered on the sharp tongued snowy dame that had startled him so.
And then she started to cry. The petite black wolf’s jaw literally dropped, his eyes widened in comical shock. Oh dear lord, if there was one thing he couldn’t deal with it was waterworks. Give him any other emotion and he would deal but those big watery eyes were his hearts weak spot. Tears were the only things that ever made him feel guilty about what he’d said or done; and even though he hadn’t been the one to make this pretty cream wolfess cry he still felt that familiar guilt gnawing at him. Against his own will he found himself inching out from his wolven shield and approaching the ivory ess, large ears pressed flat against his skull and big fluffy plume wound around his hind leg.
The pixie like brute hesitantly sat beside her, thickly furred tail attempting to curl around her in something akin to comfort. Big baby eyes stared up at the female, his ego shriveling a bit as he realized that he had to look up to see the female. Oh how he damned his fairyesque build to the pits. “Let it all out lovely, I’ve always got a shoulder open for someone to cry on”. Translation? Please turn off your eye faucets so I can stop feeling like an ass for no reason. It was one of the few times that his inability to tell the truth actually worked in his favor, the little black beast easily sounding like he cared and was ready to do anything for the cloud colored damsel. His bright baby hues looked over to the tri-colored female in a pitiful beg that clearly called out for her help. It was a silently pleading that translated in eye speak to: work your magic and save me from my own stupidity, you’re supposed to be the nice one!!!
...I may have faked it.

Ayala wasn’t surprised by the response that she’d received from the male at hand. Denial and side-stepping the truth was a common thing among males; she was starting to figure out. The multi-colored female snorted briefly, and shrugged a shoulder. “Whatever you say, Jack,” she said playfully. The response that did surprise Ayala was that of her female companion. She thought that she was reaching out to one of her own, letting her know that it was okay to be around others and enjoy life as it came. But things don’t always fit the mold we want. And the whole project could turn out to be a bloody mess.
Well wasn’t this just peachy keen and the cream of the crop? Oh how marvelous situations like this could be. Aren’t they just the most wonderful things that your eyes beheld? No, that, my friends, is sarcasm at its finest. The plan that Ayala had in mind had pulled a complete 360 degrees on her. The outcome wasn’t the one that she’d desired at all. In fact, it startled her and made her instantly regret coming out of the water beyond belief. Ayala could’ve minded her own business, and went about her way, but no. That nurturing side of her forced her to investigate the other she-wolf’s behavior. She had to answer and try to be friendly. Ayala’s voice was low, timid, and shaky when she responded to the harsh words spoken at first. “Well, n-n-no I-I—“she began to say, but was sharply cut off from saying anything further. There was no denying that Ayala didn’t know the other female in the slightest bit. But she had witnessed this kind of hurt before. And she took a good shot in the dark by guessing that this situation was similar. What had happened to the snowy white female that troubled her so? Ayala only ascertained a small fraction of what the problem was. And she was close to not wanting to find out either.
When the pure white female snarled at her, Ayala flinched visibly. She raised a paw to cover her face as a sudden reaction. One of her own silver eyes closed momentarily, preparing for an attack that would cause bodily injury. But nothing came in the form of physical harm. There was an adverse reaction in fact. Sheer, transparent emotional pain came pouring out of the ivory lady’s soul. And Ayala was purely amazed. There was obviously a grievance that had not yet been rectified, and it might never be for all that Ayala knew.
Ayala thought that things were going okay before, but she was lured into a false sense of security. She merely was voicing her thoughts, on the contrary to what she was used to. Normally she’d be the one basking in the shadows of a more authoritative and assertive beastie. The she-wolf wanted to help in this circumstance, not hurt anyone in any way. Her intentions were not to push anyone’s buttons, rather to encourage and uplift the other. Ayala, in the one time that she’d been bold enough to say what she thought, failed. And she had failed rather epically at that. What a twist and a turn her words had brought about. But maybe her actions could resolve the issue. They say that actions have more magnitude and speak louder than words. Why couldn’t Ayala give it a try? She had talked herself out of being a coward and to stand firm, though she was trembling considerably on the inside.
When the male wolf jumped behind her and made excuses for his behavior, a furred brow was raised in question. Ayala’s tail was fine just moments ago, what happened in that short time frame? Nothing. Absolutely positively nothing. So, she wasn’t the only one intimidated by the white female, tears streaming down her face or no. But that was a sure sign that she need assistance, her mannerisms screamed to Ayala, and obviously the small, rather poofy male.
As he neared the suffering lass, Ayala caught his subtle hint to help. That was the she-wolf’s sure fire call to action, and she didn’t hesitate to stand to her paws. This is what she was here for; Ayala firmly believed that though she was afraid of a lot of things, she knew that she could be a source of comfort too. Her calm and compassionate demeanor was not put to waste. The multi-colored girl could not have the fact that she alone made someone cry on her conscious. That would surely eat her alive. Ayala went to the other side of the snowy female, and reclined on her haunches. Her back leg flopped out promptly as she did so, but Ayala didn’t care much for that now. Her bright silver eyes watched the other she-wolf and she slowly attempted to butt her nose up against the ivory fur. If she got it bitten off, at least she could say that it was a noble effort. It was all in the pursuit of making someone happy.
“Please, let us help you,” Ayala murmured softly.

OOC Lmao Loki is hiiilaarious! And Ayala is such a cutie pie. <3
Her sobbing remained quite loud and dramatic. Tears steadily streamed down her face like the rapids streaming down the lands. There was no telling how long she'd cry for. It would vary depending on what her company did. If they immediately left, she'd likely cry harder but soon get over it. If they stayed and just stared, she'd get angry like a raging bull. If they helped...
The male that had ran away from her and behind the other female quietly approached her, wrapping his tail around her back. This was the first time she noticed how small he was. She didn't pay too much attention though, as it was directed back to her female counterpart.
She was also coming to comfort Talia, instead going to the opposite shoulder as the male. At first the instinct of pushing away sneaked through her brain, but the contact that these two wolves brought her did make her feel a little comforted. It had been so long since she was able to feel another's warmth, and the feeling was actually pretty great.
Her sobbing was reduced to sniffles, the stream reduced to drying tears. She looked at both of them with her silver eyes, studying, and noticing the female had silver coloring as well.
"What are your names?" she asked softly. Maybe she could be friends with them. Maybe they wouldn't hurt her feelings like so many others did. It would take a lot for any friend of Talia's to make that accomplishment though. Perhaps something was wrong with her brain because she'd cry if she thought a fly looked at her wrong.
